    Target Fish?

Mhm. I've bred a few other kinds of cichlids before, and I know how not good it can be to have one fully conditioned and ready to go and one that isn't sharing a tank. I'm planning to leave the fry with mom for at least a few weeks, though, so I don't think being ready to spawn again will be a...

    Target Fish?

Fingers crossed, I guess. I might have to pull her out when I pull the fry to let the male have a chance to settle back in, since she's clearly the dominant one. I think if I just removed the fry and added him in she would go after him again.

    Target Fish?

Update- I have a few hundred tiny little things that are all yolk sac and tail now Dad had to be removed because when he came to investigate them Mom took a little chunk out of his side running him off. She's done what I thought she would do and started alternating jobs, swimming around the...

    Target Fish?

Your clarification is along the lines of what I'm looking for. A single fish that can chill it it's own space on the other side of the tank for a while. The cons are small enough at the moment that they should only claim half of it, and when they get bigger I intend to rehome the target fish.

    Target Fish?

I think you may be thinking of dither fish with that explanation. Schools of quick-moving fish that can't be caught easily are usually used to make the fish that need them feel more secure, and shouldn't present any kind of threat. The cories were acting as 'dithers' for my oscars and angels...

    Target Fish?

To address your concerns, I have seen Oscars and Angels kept together successfully before and have read several threads by the owners of the tanks to see how they did it. From everything I have read and seen, it is likely to be okay if they grow up together. I got the angels at half-dollar size...

    Target Fish?

Okay, here's the deal- I have a pair of convicts that is extremely laid back to the point of being docile. I have them in a 20 long with ten one to two inch CAEs [all but one of those is only temporary until they're a little bigger]. We're on day three of egg-watching and the CAEs are ignored to...

Help Need Immediate Advice. Betta with Major Fin Rot

Just skimmed this and I don't think anyone else has mentioned it, if they have my bad on the repeat. If you do medicate the tank, either because the clean water doesn't help or just to be on the safe side since it sounds so bad (not really recommended to treat anything unless it really needs it...

Anyone have experience with Fire Eels?!

I've read about them taking a month or two to get used to new tanks, but mine settled in after a few hours. The only other fish I had in the tank at the time was a 2" tiger oscar, and one of the first things the eel did was swim right up to him and stare for a few minutes before going to wrap...

    Help I did the unthinkable

As far as the salt goes, only dose the new water. If you have a way to measure the salt in the tank it would be a good idea to treat the new water before adding it and trying to match it as close to the salinity of the tank as you can. That being said, dwarf puffers are a freshwater fish, so you...

Quick Before the MODS Come V 2.0

16 Geeze, and I was home too. I've been sick for the past week or so, keep falling asleep. I was in the middle of a seven hour nap when it happened. Good job to the three of you and everyone else that got in on it

    Zeff

I'd rather have a messed up door and a bed than no door and no bed. I'll pass on ticking off the landlady. They'll take care of it eventually. Maybe.

What is the worst aquarium fish?

I've seen a couple of places selling arapaima fry. 8+ feet, 400+ lbs as adults, and they're selling them to people with little tiny tanks;;; To me, that's the worst aquarium fish. No one should be trying to keep one of those as a pet. No one with a normal income, anyway.

Anyone know what kind of moss this is?

Checked google images for both guppy grass and java moss, pretty sure this is in fact java moss. Thanks to all three of you

Anyone know what kind of moss this is?

Just received some tiger shrimp for my 29gal, acclimating them now. The moss came in with them so they would have something to hang onto. Can anyone ID it? Want to know what it is because if I like the type I'll add it into the 29, if not it will go into one of my 10gal breeding/fry tanks.
