DIY Micro Gravel Vac / Water Changer

Is your large gravel vac too strong or powerful for your smaller tanks here is the Solution!!!! :)

I introduce the MICRO gravel vac.

If you have a tank say under 5 gals/20litres a large gravel vac can often be too strong and suck the water up too quickly before you manage to clean properly and can often be too big and bulky to fit in smaller aquascapes. Tried cleaning with a length of air line tubing but had difficulty due to it being flexable and flimsy... well... here is the Solution! :)

Equipment:
Pen tube (10-15cm/4-6inches is adequate)
airline tubing (your chosen length needed for your style of maintenance)
Hot glue/super glue
Saw/knife/blade

Method:
1. Firstly you need to prep the pen tube, take off the pen cap and cap off back of pen (some can be twisted/unscrewed if not you will need to cut it off)

2. You will need to cut the tip of the pen off about 1cm or 1/2inch to allow water, scraps and poop to flow through. Ive marked a black dot on the pen in the images so you know what and where im talking about.

3. Then get your length of air line tubing and put the tip of it into the back side of your pen tube.

4. Apply glue if needed to make a water tight fit from air line tubing to pen tube and allow glue to dry and set

5. Well done your MICRO gravel vac is complete and now ready to be used to clean MICRO tanks. Its easy to use just like an ordinary gravel vac just on a MICRO scale. It can be used to push through gravel and reach bottom to collect waste, drain fish tanks, do Water changes, acclimate fish and much much more.

Seems like extra work to add the pen tube. Not really necessary.

Thanks for the review, I added the pen tube because it is straight and won't flex, the tubing will bend and move around unless you hold it from the very botttom so the pen tube is there for support and ease but it will work with or without the pen tube.
