Adding airstones to sponge filters

Adding airstones to sponge filters

Today, i will show you how i add airstones to your smaller sponge filters with only 1 inside chamber.

So first thing, grab your sponge filter:

Then, completely disassemble it:

Pick up your chamber or cage as I like to call it and look at the bottom:

And cut those little inside spokes to remove the tube in the middle:

After that is removed, take your airline and add the tube, top piece, and airstone:

And assemble the spong filter:

Then hook up to your air pump and enjoy!

Great article! It's well written and easy to follow. Great job.
Very well written and the pictures definitely help to see the process. I just have one question though. Is there a certain size or shape air stone that will work? Or will any kind work?

I just used the smaller ones from Imagitarium. I am sure if it fits, it works.

Thank you! There is another one in the works for larger sponge filters as well. Got the pics, just not ready to type.
