Double The Canisters Double The Trouble?

I run two FX6's, one focused on biological filtration and on focused on mechanical/chemical filtration. The biological FX6 gets cleaned at the 6(ish) month mark and the other gets cleaned every 2-3 months but we have a decent bio-load and probably overfeed.

    Show Me Your Tanks!

150 gallon, the photo of the filters is slightly outdated - it now has dual Fluval FX6's.

    Kessil Light Schedule

I don't know if it helps but here is what I have my 360 Tuna Sun's set to using my Apex.

    Prefilter Sponges, Yay Or Nay?

I clean both of them every week, we have about 50 fish in the tank. Also, my wife tends to overfeed - we've had discussions about it with varying degrees of success. Bloodworms will do a number on filter media.

    Prefilter Sponges, Yay Or Nay?

I've been using the pre-filter for a bit over a week. I picked up two of the Filter-Max III Prefilter by Aquarium Technology and they have worked well on my FX6's. I haven't noticed a decrease in the flow and the canisters have been much easier to clean. I am going to keep an eye on the filters...

    Prefilter Sponges, Yay Or Nay?

Not the OP but I am planning to clean mine every week during the water change. That should help curtail the clogging issues.

Best Canister On A Budget? 38gallon

I've had pretty much all of the Cascades and they were fine overall, a few minor problems here and there but they worked. I switched to completely Fluval and have had a 106, 206, 306, 406, FX4, and FX6 - they were all good. I currently run two FX6's on our 150 tall and couldn't be happier with...

I haven't been but I am going to try them with my FX6's and see how it goes.

Ok, So We're Trying A Marine Tank...

Thanks, we figured that out. The five is now a quarantine tank and we have a Red Sea Reefer 350. It's a nice tank, although if I had it to do over again I would also look seriously at the Waterbox Platinum 130.4 as well.

Ok, So We're Trying A Marine Tank...

Yep, I added a leak detector to the FMM that came with the ATK. It only made sense to me, especially given how inexpensive (comparatively) the sensors are. I liked the idea so much that I added a LDK kit to the Apex on my freshwater 150 too.

Ok, So We're Trying A Marine Tank...

It's a Red Sea Reefer 350, 73 gallon display and 18 gallon sump. We really like what we have so far and besides adding some corals over time I think we are done adding to the tank. I was fun watching the damsel trying to chase the tang and the tang ignoring it. Thanks for the tip, we'll keep an...

Ok, So We're Trying A Marine Tank...

Ok, so an update. We've added some corals, a cleanup crew recommended for our tank size, two Clowns, a Rose Tip Anenome, a Yellowtail Damsel, a Lawnmower Blenny, a Neon Dottyback, a Six Line Wrasse, a Purple Firefish, a Hawiian Feather, a Cleaner Skunk Shrimp, and a Bristletooth TominI Tang. We...

Lightning For A 110 Planted Tank

I started with a quad T-5 HO on my 150 gallon deep planted aquarium and it was ok but I switched to Kessil A360WE Tuna Sun lights, they are much better in my opinion. For advanced control you would want to look at an aquarium controller like the Neptune Apex or the Kessil Spectral Controller...

    Lighting For My Tank

The Finnex Planted+ 24/7 SE's and CC's are nice. That being said I switched to Kessil A360WE Tuna Sun lights for my 150 gallon deep planted aquarium. For advanced control you would want to look at an aquarium controller like the Neptune Apex or the Kessil Spectral Controller. Kessil makes great...
