    My pond beauties

I live in Western Australia and we have just bought them, over the last 18 months or so, from our local pet supplies store. They don't sell any animals other than fish (and cats from the local adoption centre who are often overrun). I've been to many specialist fish stores here that don't have...

    Moving a full tank

Hi all. I have a 120L tank that I want to move about 5 inches to the left. (Trust me, it needs to be moved). Any way at all I can do this without emptying the whole thing? Tricks and/or tips? The mat underneath it is pretty "sticky", if that makes sense.

Advice for a bit of colour for my tank

Thank you! It would actually be handy to have something take care of the fry because otherwise the tank will be overrun. And, yes, I've heard Bosemani rainbows are beautiful - would they be dangerous to the adult guppies? I didn't realise that. I like my platy's personality. He's a really...

Advice for a bit of colour for my tank

Hi y'all. In my tank I have two black mollies and a white one (that I am pretty much waiting to grow old and die and then I will never get another molly again ... but I digress), a large platy, seven albino cory cats, and a large abundance of endlessly-breeding guppies and fry. The issue is...

    The sweetest Betta <3

:-D He is! It's great, we always say stuff like, "Have you fed Jimmy Kimmel today?" or "When was the last time you hung out with Jimmy Kimmel?" hahahaha. He also has a plant in his room - a ficus - named Dave. Excellent.

    The sweetest Betta <3

My 11yo son's betta, Jimmy Kimmel, responds to seeing people in such a cool way. Every time you go near him, he comes rushing over and his side fins go berserk. He doesn't flare, he just gets sooo excited. I hope I'm not misinterpreting it, because it's lovely :-)

    Ammonia levels high

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant if there are no live plants at all, introducing some can really help with intractable ammonia issues.

    Ammonia levels high

I'm telling you now, if there are no live plants in your tank, go and get some and put them in there. Within three days your levels will have stabilised.

    My pond beauties

Out of all of my many fish, my first loves and most favourite are my goldies. They're beautiful, gentle, curious, playful, intelligent ... what more can I say? It's pond maintenance day, so I took a couple of pics to show them off :-) I hope you think they're as beautiful as I do. And some...

    Are they just cold?

That is So. Awesome. Fishler, the platy (she looks like she has a small black moustache so she is Fish-That-Looks-Like-Hitler) is the police officer of the bunch. She's the one who - literally - breaks up any squabbles and protects any new fish in the tank. And she's the one who has been...

    Are they just cold?

I have a thermometer in there that said it was only 24C (75F) so it's definitely not high enough. Although, in the spirit of full disclosure, I have to admit to just sticking my finger in there, too hahaha.

    Are they just cold?

My bigger fish are literally dead still, just hanging out next to the heater. The cories and the guppies aren't, but the rest, yes. Yesterday I re-scaped the tank a little to fit the fry net in it, and moved the heater. The water actually wasn't warm enough so I've turned up the heat now but...

What to do with my mollies.

We already have four tanks in the house and none of them would be suitable - they're smaller to start with, and I wouldn't want the mollies then to act up because they have less room. So, I guess you could say that I care about their welfare, I just think they're idiots lol After I found...

Mollies have string like thing? It comes & goes. What is it?

It's poo, and you would not believe how long it can get *barf*. If you notice it a lot, as in, if it seems like they're always trailing a poo-string, it's because you're overfeeding them. They're greedy fish and will gorge themselves! Just reduce their food intake by about 25% to start with...
