I'm a dedicated fishkeeper who currently keeps guppies. When I was just starting out, I made the mistake of taking advice from pet shops before learning that much of the information was intentionally misleading in order to draw in impulse buys and make fish seem like cheap decorations and not living beings. During that time, I encountered almost everything that can go wrong in an aquarium, experiencing ammonia poisoning, fin rot, and parasites multiple times before finally getting on track with my accumulated experience and research.

I currently keep a 10 gallon aquascaped tank with three amazing, wonderful pet guppies in their filtered, heated, cycled aquarium which receives weekly 70% water changes.

I understand that we all have to start somewhere and, for me, being on Fishlore helped a million. Being able to consult with older fishkeepers helped me to make the right decisions for my fish and got me even more interested and (dare I say) addicted to aquascaping and fishkeeping. I want to offer my own experiences to members who are new and might have faced some of the troubles in the beginning that I did. <3
