Can someone confirm this is brown algae (diatoms) and what I can do?

not to sure on if your other fish will hurt it, most of my fish stick to the top of the tank and the stick fish stays towards the bottom, I have a common pleco that’s pushing 6-61/2” though, if the stick fish gets to close during feeding he will kind of nudge it aside, they aren’t very fast...

Can someone confirm this is brown algae (diatoms) and what I can do?

I agree with star girl, I had a MASSIVE outbreak of this stuff. I didn’t take everything out and clean though, I started by lowering the amount of food I put in the tank, then limited how much light it would get during the day, the more uneaten food is left over the more this stuff will flourish...

75 Gallon Tank Hob, 90g sponge filter bio question

Thanks for the recommendations, I have already added more sponge to my hob, it’s a very lightly stocked tank that is probably over maintenanced so I don’t have much to worry about now, have a good weekend!

10 Gallon Tank Some thoughts on a starter salt water tank

Hello everyone! Wanted some input on this before I went and actually did it, I have a extra 10g tank and some extra filters, heaters, etc... I was wondering if I could set up a 10g saltwater as this would be my first saltwater and thought it would be an easier and cheaper starting point. I...

    New Tank on countertop

I would say with that tank it should be fine, just make sure the wood can hold the tank without flexing hard on the pads, it would make that a lot easier, just be careful at first to make sure of stability!! Wish you luck!

    New Tank on countertop

If it’s a smaller tank, that isn’t too tall, I’d say to maybe make a rig that would allow it to move, ie similar to a drawer, we had one on our counter it was granite so it was scary trying to move it, we made a rig with slider pads on the bottom (plywood) and that worked well, it was only a 5G...

    Are bubbles normal?

Start with turning your filters all the way up and see if that helps, I have a marineland 375 on my 75 and it does pretty good, it also could be your water conditioner, what brand do you use? Api?

    Are bubbles normal?

That I’m not too sure on as I’m not familiar with cichlids, hopefully someone can chime in that has had them for a long time, sometimes if you have stale water the bubbles will rest on top of the water, do you have a strong filter or a power head in the tank? Or a air stone?

75 Gallon Tank Corys not doing well, Not eating after Gravel change

Yes, I feed the pleco the shrimp bottom feeder pellets, and now I’m having a “brown algae bloom”, I’m gonna let that play it’s corse. I lost another Cory, they’re still for the most part staying still but I’m sure they are eating at least the bare minimum or they probably would have died by now...

75 Gallon Tank Corys not doing well, Not eating after Gravel change

1.Thank you for taking the time of your day to type this! I know the tetras were extremely stressed because most of them lost their color and died over night ): I’m down to 1 neon and 3 black. 2.Where I live I have “city” water so it might be constantly changing, I myself do not drink it as I...
