Missing a small but very important part of my Eheim. :(

Thanks, everyone. I think we found a solution at Sears Hardware. This is not a new filter. It is, in fact, at least 10 years old and it was last disassembled by a non-fish person, so she didn't really know which parts should be disconnected and which ones need to stay on the unit. I was actually...

Missing a small but very important part of my Eheim. :(

So, I have received roughly eleventy billion shipments from Drs. Foster and Smith in the past few weeks and the last one came in today! Yay! I am ready to set up my 120 gallon tank this weekend! I started hooking up my EheI'm 2217 filter and realized it is missing one of the grey threaded rings...

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

Thanks. I will try to keep that in mind as I am making my choices. The tank has been moved in to the house (it had been sitting in my garage for a week and a half)! We did some minor repairs on the stand and LOTS of cleaning on both stand and tank (water and elbow grease only, of course). I...

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

I think that's what I needed to hear. I'm so worried about not getting it exactly right on the first go. I will just have to make sure I have a place I can take those that don't make the cut. I will check with my LFS. Thanks!

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

Yep. 120. As strange as it sounds, I almost wish it was smaller so the decisions would be easier!I just want to find the right balance so everyone is happy and (relatively) peaceful.

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

Metriaclima estherae, Labidochromis caeruleus and Pseudotropheus saulosI plus the catfish (Synodontus eupterus). What am I missing here? I completely agree with creating no hybrids, but I don't think I've wandered in to that territory, have I...? I have forgotten so much!

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

I will be sure to post pictures! What about saulosi? That way I could get both the yellow and the blue in one species. Maybe those plus the zebras and some white labs...? It seem most of the mbuna that really catch my eye are all the same genus - Pseudotropheus! I am guessing I could stock...

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

I do love mbuna, especially the dwarf varieties! KenyI cichlids are beautiful, but my spotty memory is hinting that maybe they are particularly aggressive? I don't mind an aggressive tank, but I want to get the right balance so there are no casualties. I saw Snow Whites at the fish store last...

120 Gallon Tank So many possibilities...!

Hello, everyone. May I begin by admitting this post is as much a cry for attention as it is for advice? I used to post here several years ago, but life happened in mysterious and tragic ways and I was sans fish for a while. I missed my fish and my forum buddies, but I stayed away aside from the...

    Dealing with a rescue fish

Hi, Lucy! It's great to see you again. I have some options for setting him up in a larger tank. I actually own two, but they are in another city right now. Just got to rent a truck and go get them. I have a few friends who might be able to foster him in the meantime. Great idea, though, with...

    Dealing with a rescue fish

Thank you. This morning he was completely upright and his eyes looked a little less sunken in. I think he's going to make it. Now to find a bigger home for him. A six inch long catfish and a ten gallon tank is not a good combination! I did my best to acclimatize him before putting him in the...

    Dealing with a rescue fish

Hello, everyone. I used to post here, but I haven't been around for a very long time. Lots of stuff has happened that I'm not going to get in to right now. Suffice to say, through circumstances largely beyond my control, this weekend I ended up at a house with a very large aquarium that had not...

Disease? Injury? It's too late for Henry, but I'm confused!

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, Henry passed two days ago. Another friend suggested he might have sustained an internal injury as a result of the constipation. Possibly. He was not bloated and showed no signs of external trauma. Indeed he had no symptoms with which I was previously...

Disease? Injury? It's too late for Henry, but I'm confused!

Hi, everyone. Long time no post. Well, it looks like I'm losing my favorite fish, my Pseudotropheus elongatus Henry. I am out of town at the moment, but my husband reports he is upside down at the bottom of the tank. There isn't much else we can do for him now, but I would like to know what...

Feed turning my horses into divas?

I completely agree with that last statement! I'm trying to talk my husband in to letting me build a round pen so I can work with them a bit more. I may try supplements if the feed change doesn't do the trick. Thank you for your input.
