Nymphaea lotus - Tiger Lotus. Problem with surface leaves

Thanks, Mimo. I do use root tabs and they seem to do the trick. I'll leave things as they are for a while and see what happens.

Nymphaea lotus - Tiger Lotus. Problem with surface leaves

Thanks for your help, guys. The one I have is this one... Nymphaea lotus I was under the impression that surface leaves were an option and I actually wanted that as I think it looks good but if they won't stay healthy on the surface I may as well prune them and keep them looking good at lower...

Nymphaea lotus - Tiger Lotus. Problem with surface leaves

Hi guys, I have a Nymphaea lotus which is growing very strong, it has great colour and growing quite fast. It looks like a very healthy plant but for one issue. When the leaves break the surface as they're supposed to, they rot or melt where the leaf is on contact with the air. As they're...

    Weekly and/or daily water changes

Thanks guys. I usually do at least a 50% change once a week as the instructions on the fert I use recommends it and doing that does keep my parameters in the green. I also give the substrate a good clean at the same time. I just wasn't sure if one large wc was better than a daily smaller one.

    Weekly and/or daily water changes

Since getting my aquarium about 18 months ago I've been doing a 50 - 70% water change religiously every Sunday. I've not missed one. However I'm now wondering what, if any, would be the pros and cons to changing to perhaps a 10% water change every day rather than a single large one once a week...

Alternative to moss which grows well on wood

Thanks guys. It looks like I'll have to get some Riccia and see what I can do with it.

Alternative to moss which grows well on wood

Right now I have a moss growing on my spider wood that grows really fast and covers great, like a green roof, (top left on the pic) BUT my problem with it is that when it's trimmed the cuttings sink rather than float. As you no doubt realise, it takes forever to fish the cuttings off the bottom...

Haha! I just googled it and found this vid of one. I'm with you on this. Pretty sure that's not going to convince the genuine article. :D

That's some really good techie stuff right there, Mac. I especially like the 'Aqua-check, although some of the parameters it covers would be better swapped for some others to be more suited to aquariums. Quite pricey, though.

I like #1 a lot. The others are great, too but the 5-1 canister filter would probably require a second mortgage to buy. :D

That sounds like something a shrimp keeper has thought of him/herself and decided to market it. Always the best ideas that way. :)

Best, favourite, most ridiculous or geeky aquarium gadget?

Not sure how but yesterday I found myself, for no apparent reason, looking through Amazon at aquarium thermometers and came across one which links to a phone app. Inkbird IBS-TH1 Wireless Bluetooth Aquarium Thermometer Temperature Humidity Sensor for Fish Tank Tortoise: Amazon.co.uk: DIY &...

Thanks, guys. I'll do that. I'm just waiting on some glassware and an inline CO2 diffuser to arrive and then I'll get it all set up.

Changing from an internal to an external filter

HI everyone, Right now my 60 ltr is running a Ciano CF40 internal filter but I'm about to change to an external filter, the Oase FiltoSmart Thermo 100 Oase FiltoSmart Thermo 100 Aquarium External Filter I'm trying to decide if I should run both filters for a while during the changeover or would...
