    What dropsy looks like

Hi all, I just lost my betta Simon yesterday. He lost his pectoral fins to an injury, then got ill from that with dropsy, before passing. I thought it might be helpful to post a couple of photos of what dropsy looks like, since folks do seem to ask about it on this forum. FYI, when in the...

    Does my betta have velvet?

Hard to tell from the photo but he looks fine to me. I’d suggest monitoring him and see if it gets worse.

The slow sad demise of Simon the betta

Thank you all so very much. Simon passed this morning. I went to check on him and he was gone. I’m terribly sad, but also relieved that his suffering is over. I love fishkeeping, but this is the worst part. Thank you for all of your kind words.

The slow sad demise of Simon the betta

Thank you. I was/have been doing all of those things (glad to know I’m doing everything I can).

The slow sad demise of Simon the betta

Hi all, I’m sure many of you have gone through this experience, but I have a very sick betta who is about to die. Ive had Simon for about a year and a half and he’s had a good fishy life. He’s lived in a 10g most of his life. Over the past couple of months he has developed fin wasting and dull...

Betta keeps eating guppy/Endler food, is this okay?

Thank you! I looked up the flakes too and it says there is 46% protein. I don’t like the big belly after eating either. It does go down fairly quickly and when my other betta occasionally had flakes I think there must have been some air or water consumed also bc he too didn’t have the round...

Betta keeps eating guppy/Endler food, is this okay?

Hi y’all, My new baby koi betta girl thinks she is an Endler (mini guppy-like livebearers)! I thought there might be some fighting over the food when I feed the Endlers their flakes (Tetra Color flakes), but there isn’t. She peacefully mingles with them and they all eat the flakes together...

    Should I euthanize?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Bettas are really special, it’s so hard to see them suffer. It sounds like you’ve been a loving fish parent, Titan is lucky to have lived his life with you. I’ve lost bettas before, it’s never easy, and I have a not-so-healthy guy right now, trying to...

Introducing Saki, baby girl koi betta!

No, she doesn’t! Not so far...she is still so curious and checking everything out. I think she thinks she’s just one of the guppies/Endlers! Next post will be about how to prevent her from eating their flake food...or whether I should stop her. So far it’s a respectful sharing of the flakes...

Introducing Saki, baby girl koi betta!

I can’t get her to hold still long enough to take a decent photo, so I took a little video. Even that is in and out of focus but at :30 you can get a clear picture of her! (And the Endlers stepbrothers):

    Mollies.....best fish ever? lol

So balloon mollies not good? (I’ve been researching for stocking ideas, always loved the mollies)

    Should I euthanize?

I agree with Acorn. Unless he seems absolutely miserable, then maybe allow him to live out his days...? If he takes a turn for the worse you can always re-evaluate.

Introducing Saki, baby girl koi betta!

I’m in love! I decide to move my resident male betta Simon from the 20g tall back to his original 10g tank, he just wasn’t as happy in the bigger tank (I know, strange but true). He needs some TLC anyway so for now his 10g is a hospital tank to treat some torn fins and possible bacterial...
