I'm brainstorming on what I should stock and don't want to make any more mistakes. Maybe some of you more experienced fish keepers can help...
My tank is 29 gal
Hardness 8 gr/gal
Temp around 78
Currently I have:
3 Purple Passion Danios
4 Leopard Danios
I'm for sure going...
Ok. So its too warm as I thought for the Leopards.
What's a good temperature for the Pearls?
Ok. Thank you for your input! I think I will try that. I will get a school of 8 Pearls and hope they will be nice when I get new fish. I'll put the Leopards in a smaller tank in a place in the house...
I really do like the looks of the Pearls and they seem to be the healthiest fish in my tank. One problem is I would only like one school of danios because I'd like to get more variety in my tank, maybe some tetras and honey gourami. The second problem is I'm still nervous the Pearls will be...
I thought danios needed cooler water, 75F or lower. But if 78F is good for them that makes things a but easier. In the summer my tank warms up to 82 on the hottest days.
I haven't kept danios since I was a kid and I don't know what temp we kept them at.
Yes, when I got the pearls I thought they would be ok because they seemed to "school" with the leopards. But I think your right about needing a bigger school. I'm leaning towards rehoming the pearls (hopefully the store will take them) and then I'll get 4 more zebra danio types to make a school...
Here's my predicament.
I bought a 29 gallon with the intention to have a diverse and peaceful community tank. I purchased 7 danios (4 leopard and 3 Pearl). At the time I didn't realize the Pearls were so much more aggressive than the leopards. I tried adding a school of Hengeli Rasbora...
Hmm, I've never looked into loaches before. I never liked the look of the wormy looking ones lol. The yoyo loach looks interesting. Are they sensitive to gravel like Corydoras are?
I'm still leaning towards the Tiger barbs. I think they would be the safest especially after watching my danio...
I might try Tiger Barbs in the future, unless I see something I like better. I don't think there will be a problem since they would be bigger than the danio. And the danio are so fast they basically teleport lol.
I'm not stuck on orange though. I'm open to any colour fish.
Thanks for the info!
When I bought the pearl danio (labeled as Purple Passion danio at my fish store) I assumed they were similar to zebra and leopard danios. And most info I found says they're peaceful schooling fish. For years when I was a kid we had neon and glowlight tetra with our zebras...
My tank is 29 gallons. There are 7 danios. The occasionally nip eachother but its not too often.
Anyways, I just bought 6 of the Hengelis. And I also just bought a large fake plant that I will put in when the hengelis are acclimated. I was thinking the new plant won't be "claimed" by the...
I'm thinking if adding Hengeli Rasbora to my tank with my leopard and pearl danios today.
Do you think they will be picked on by my danios? Because my pearl danios are quite large (2 1/2 inches) and the Hengeli rasbora are quite small (maybe 2 cm).
Are they compatible?
If no one responds with their knowledge/experience that they won't work, I'm going to go tomorrow and get a school if the hengeli's. In a few weeks when they go to my main tank we'll see how they are. Fingers crossed they'll be happy there!
I would like to get a school of small orange fish for my 29 gallon and have been debating between glowlight tetra and harlequin rasbora. But when I went to my fish store today I saw Hengeli rasbora and love how they look! I love that they are more orange than the Harlequins but more...
