    +1 for gimp, I use it at home and at work. There are alot of web tutorials out there also to help with the learning. Youtube has howto videos and such.

    DIY CO2 for larger tanks?

    I take some tonight an post them, I use a little fountain pump as a diffuser, so at night I just unplug it and let the bubble quickly rise to the top, work out pretty good. Then I plug it in in the morning, I hope to be getting some timers here soon that will take care of the turning it on and off.

    oops that's right its a 1/2 teaspoon. I do my measuring in grams now, I used 2 grams of yeast, and there is about 4 grams per teaspoon. Sorry about the mixup.

    I use a DIY CO2 setup on my 55 gal. tank and I have to be sure to turn it off at night, other wise the CO2 levels get to high.     DIY C02 foam?

    Try cutting back on the sugar, I use 2 cups of sugar, 1/2 tbs yeast and filled about the same. I only get about 1/4 inch of foam on the top.

    No its just tea tree oil, melaluca, causes the slim coat to increase.

    Well the water is less than 2 days old, I will just keep the water changes up, and keep putting MelaFix in.

    Came home from work today and found one of my SAE Had a red dorsal fin. The only thing that I can think of is maybe its blood?? I have dosed the tank with Melafix, should I pull him/her out and put in a QT?

    I have used perlite. The only problem that I have had was in washing out the dust, because it likes to float a lot. Otherwise it is cheap and works really well.
