    How much tetracycline?

I'm treating a betta in a 1 gallon tank for fin rot, {I'm moving into a college dorm this weekend, and they only allow fish bowls- nothing electrical} and I bought maracyn-TC teracyclin, it comes in 8 packets of powder. Each packet is supposed to treat 10 gallons, and there's a small amount of powder...

    Slow feeding betta

I'm not sure of the parameters, he gets weekly 100% water changes though. He's interested in the food, he's just slow to get it. Today I moved his bowl to the kitchen and he ate mysis shrimp just fine. He does eat some food, its just frustrating because for him to get a bite, i have to waste...

    Slow feeding betta

I have two bettas right now from petco, they're halfmoon males. One is mine, one is my mom's. My mom's betta is named Lila, and my betta is named Penelope. When we first got them, Lila wouldn't eat anything except for a freeze dried blood worm and Penelope ate pellets and bloodworms. The petco...

Is he gasping? Or is this normal?

It was just my internet, I can see it fine now. Here's some information about the effect of ammonia on fish: http://www.fishdoc.co.uk/water/ammonia.htm

    Male & Female? Together?!

I'm sorry for offending you, it wasn't my intention. When I saw you had put the female in a jar inside of the male's tank, I assumed you were trying to incite the male to make a bubblenest so you could breed within the next few days. You have a nice set up, your tank is really pretty. Best of luck

Is he gasping? Or is this normal?

Maybe it's just my sluggish internet, but I don't see a video.

    Male & Female? Together?!

Yes, I did read the whole thread. Please don't take offense to what I'm saying. As others have told you, your girl has stress lines. That means she is not comfortable in her new surroundings yet. She's a new betta, she should be allowed to get used to her new home for a few weeks first, and then...

    Male & Female? Together?!

Please reconsider your plan to breed the bettas right away. At the least, do some research before you just throw them together and hope for the best.

    Male & Female? Together?!

a healthy male will build a bubblenest even without seeing a female, and I really don't think you're ready to breed. This jar thing is really going to stress out both of your bettas, and it looks like your girl is already under a lot of stress. the bit of air you trapped at the top of the jar is...

    R.I.P Lucy..

The bowl was heated, but not filtered. I did 100% daily water changes. He would not eat from day one. There must have been some kind of pre-existing condition, because the two bettas I have now act completely different. They eat, and are even friendly. You may feel that the bowl contributed to...

    R.I.P Lucy..

Thanks, I did test the water even though I was doing water changes, it was fine- everything was at 0 and PH was normal. The bowl I have isn't inappropriate its just not ideal, and my fish didn't get hurt. I did daily 100% water changes, the problem was that he wouldn't eat. I tried four types of...

    R.I.P Lucy..

Thank You I'm wondering- I have my betta in a temporary bowl while his tank filters, but his tank has an under gravel filter and I put in gravel from an established tank. I know with other filters if you put in established filter media it's almost immediately filtered, and for a UGF the media...

    R.I.P Lucy..

:-[ I knew something just didn't feel right about my fish Lucy. I bought her last Wednesday, and she would not eat I tried four types of food- pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, and peas. Today I headed off to petco again, I bought my mom an early mother's day gift- a halfmoon betta with heater...
