20 Gallon Tank Why is my amazon sword doing this

If the one that is not doing well is older, it may be explained because its been without the proper nutrients (root tabs) for longer than the other ones. I'm no expert so this is just specilation but I know swords are heavy root feeders, dosing ferts into the water column dose very little for them

Water clarifiers WITH SNAILS and dojo’s

Did the water cloud immediately after you placed the sand in? It could be from the sand, in which case it should clear up on its own in a few days. It could also be a bacterial bloom since your tank is cycling. Both of these will not harm your fish, but before you start adding chemicals to...

How Many Dojo Loaches - HELP!

If you would rather keep your 20 gallon you could rehome the dojos and goldfish and go with a smaller loach such as the kuhli loach

How Many Dojo Loaches - HELP!

Go with the big kit. The test strips are not accurate OP also has a couple common goldfish so they will need to go bigger than 40 gallons

Water parameters seem off and losing fish

okay good! If in the future you do need to remove the filter media for whatever reason, be sure not to let it dry out. Drying out is a great way to kill off the bacteria. Simply keeping them wet even if there isn't an ammonia source will keep them alive for a long time.

Water parameters seem off and losing fish

what filter brand are you using? With many cartridges you can simply cut the carbon out, which is what would interfere with treatments. Or you can run a sponge filter on the tank as well. That way you will always have a filter even if you need to treat with meds. Did the filter media in the...

Water parameters seem off and losing fish

I agree with above, you need a filter on both tanks. And you should not really clean out the filter or change the cartridge. Only rinse them both under dechlorinated water (old tank water is perfect). Your tanks don't sound like they are cycled so please read up on the nitrogen cycle as stated...

Question What to feed assassin snails when the pest snails are gone

when I added a couple rabbit snails to my tank they were instantly swarmed by the assasins. I also tried adding nerites at one point and those lasted a few months but eventually they disappeared as well and I found empty shells so I think it was they were assasinated. I wouldn't risk it if you...

Question What to feed assassin snails when the pest snails are gone

My assassin snails cleared my pest snail problem. I had a really bad problem, so the assassins bred quite a lot while taking care of it. Since the tank has been clear for a while, the number of assasins I've seen has gone down, so they've either died back or are just waiting in the sand. But...

HELP! What did I do wrong? Or right?

No, switching them to the 5 gallon will not help. Are you familiar with the nitrogen cycle? https://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm You are doing a fish in cycle and it is very important to get a test kit ( I recommend API master kit), because the water will very quickly get toxic. If I...

HELP! What did I do wrong? Or right?

Hi there, have you cycled the tank? What are the water parameters? Also unfortunately the 20 gallon tank is too small. Common goldfish grow to very large sizes and produce a lot of waste. And dojo loaches (weather loaches) can grow to be 10-12 inches and also require more space, some sites...

    Help Betta Dropsy

The Epsom salt should help with the swelling. But since you've only had her for a few days determining the underlying cause of the dropsy may be difficult. I'm not familiar with the meds you added, what does that typically treat? It could have been caused by poor water quality at the store, a...
