Zebra Dainos, a bit confused

I have a 10 gallon tank and I just recently added 2 Female Danios thursday and 3 Danios today (2 male & 1 female). Well, one of the female Danios constantly swims in the back of the tank by herself, while the other 4 swim throughout the tank. When I first got her, she was fine and swimming with the other Danio that I got. After a while, she started to swim in the back, mostly in the same spot, sometimes she'd swim around. When I feed them, she comes out to eat, then goes back to that spot. I have noticed that when I turn off the light, she starts to swim around the tank, but when I turn it on, she goes back. I called Petsmart and Petco to see what they had to say, and they told me that she's probably shy and that she's trying to get use to her environment and that I should keep an eye on her. I'm a bit confused on what to do and I'm trying to figure out why she does that. She looks good. Color is even, eyes are clear, looks the same as the other fish. She doesn't look sick to me.

On the other note, I did also notice that when I turn off the lights, they all swim together. When I turn it on, they swim in different parts of the tank. Could it be my lighting? I have an incandescent light, which I am currently trying to find florescent lights for my 10 gal.

If the one near the back is female, she could be pregnant/laid eggs there. Just a thought.

Hello Skyliner and Welcome to Fish Lore. I would give them more time to adapt to their new environment.
Best of luck
Ken

I've also moved your thread to the "zebra danio" section of the forum. It may help you to get more responses.
Thanks!

I added my Leopard Danios to my 20G about 3 weeks ago and for a while they rarely swam together in a school, 3 would sort of hang around together whilst the big female would remain seperate or even chase any that came near her.

It's just my first observation but with nothing else in the tank they seemed more confident and would explore all over on their own at times however after adding my Gourami today they instantly "formed up" into a tight school and stayed that way for a good while after.

I'd say give them time, say a week or two and they should all have found their niches and established the pecking order between themselves. Then again, I'm a newbie aswell so maybe people with more experience will say different.
