Never Again!

A few months back I bought half a dozen danios to add some activity to one of my tanks.

I am never buying another danio again, though! I'm in the process of trying to switch them to another tank so the tank they're currently in can be used by a bigger fish.

It's been almost an hour.
I've still only caught one.
This is after using two nets, a bucket, and teasing them to the surface with flakes.

Any one have any suggestions?

Haha, oh well. I'll either have to wait a few hours for a friend to drop by, or break out the brine shrimp, I guess!

Use a clear glass jar. When you lower it into the water if they're not too excitable with your hand in the tank you can lower it right over top of them... if nothing else they may swim into it by accident

Haha, I had that happen earlier today. One swam into the container, but I was so shocked I didn't think of pulling it up before it swam back out. >.<

just had this problem a few weeks ago.....but i only had to catch 3 and it took foreeeeeever!

We ended up catching 2 of them using 2 small nets and backing them into the corner....The third one got tired out eventually and we caught him with our hand. But it took probably close to a hour just for the 3.

hahaha.... i know how you feel... I had to catch like 20-30 fish when I was tearing down and redoing my tank. I caught about half of them and then just drained the water level low enough to make it easy catch the rest.

Oh I soooo feel your pain. We had one con that took over a month to catch and one ABN that took over that to finally catch. We usually end up with two people each with two nets, both people soaked and the fish usually win!!!

Omg I have been there, I had a 5 inch blue gourami that I had someone coming to pick up in 30 minutes and I only had one net that was about 4 inches wide, I had to tear apart the tank to get that fish. Also I had to catch the same gourami out of my pond, boy was that fun

That works when you don't want to catch them eather but only to get some water into a cup so you can head into the kitchen to get them some frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp.....and having to rescoop water a few times cause they keep swimming in it!!!!! lol They do that cause they know there is food coming! Smart little guys.

I have that same problem with my Tiger Barbs when ever I want to take them out to put them in the breeding tank. The only way I can get them is to use the really big pond net at one end of the tank while casing them with the other smaller net. Even at that it takes about an hour to get the buggers. It's a matter of whos' going to tire first, me or them.

I just had the same problem with my rogue danio. I tried catching him for over a week. I ended up getting him some company. Now he is not bothering the rest of the tank mates. Good Luck!

Two and a half very wet, very frustrating days later I caught them all.

I had to dis-assemble all the plants, decorations, wood, etc. First one (two days ago) was caught off guard, 'cause the net hasn't been seen by that tank in several months. Second one was very full of eggs, she just kinda gave up when the net cornered her. At that point the other three caught on to the idea that the net was NOT nice. The cories in there... well, I swear they were laughing and teasing the danios. The danios were all AAAAAAAAH OMGOSH!!!!!!!! and the cories just went about their business in the tank, getting accidentally netted once or twice, just swimming out like nothing had happened.

Finally got the last three moments ago. One by one they got tired and literally gave up. Heh, one even "gave up" so badly that once I cornered it it just stopped trying, sat still in the water, and peacefully let itself be scooped. I felt sorry for it...

...well, almost. Danios put me into too much frustration for me to ever feel sorry for them.

Ah well. Just an update. Must go back and put all the decor back in for my corys. >.<
