Has anyone had any problems keeping zebra danios with any other peaceful community fish? They can be a bit hyper and I was wondering if they would go well with something like black neon tetras or cherry barbs. My new tank should be cycled in about a week and I was looking at fish combinations while I was checking out my LFS.

I have leopard danios in with cories and guppies and although they are very energenic there are no problems. I think you should have at least 4 or more as they are schoaling fish and this keeps them happy and to avoid fin nipping.

I hope to have at least 6 of everything, danios, black neons/cherry barbs, corys as I have plenty of space. Thanks for the info though!

Remember not to add everything at once as it may crash your cycle.

My danios get along great with my dwarf gourami and cory cats. They are a great fish to watch since they are always on the move.

mine are very peaceful they love to be in a group like mentioned by others so make sure u get enough, i love watching mine school around!! highly reccomend them

We had 3 danios........at first they were fine and then they started laying eggs like crazy, every 2 weeks (we had 2 females). Someone hurt 1 of my neons, then 1 died, Then we started missing fish, literally couldnt find them or any sign of them--no bones no nothing. Paid closer attention and noticed our danios were becoming quite agressive. Not sure if it was because they were pregnant or if it was the males trying to protect the females. But we decided to get rid of them, problem solved never had any other problems.

So im not sure what my opinion is on these guys. Them being hyper never bothered any of my other fish. It just became a issue once they started laying eggs.

My friend had some danios in his community tank and the danios seemed happy with all the other fish so I would say that they do well with others.

I have four zebra danios and two glofish in with two albino cory cats, three neon drawf gourami, two parrot fish, and one pleco. All the fish get along great. The danios never bother the other fish.

Danios are great fish if you have AT LEAST 6... if you have any less the playful energy becomes aggressiveness and then you have problems...

But other than that you are in for a treat! I could sit and watch my danios for hours...
