So what that max amount of danios I can have in a 20G

I have 5 in a 20G right now and I'm about to do a little maintenance and I want more danios... it will be a colony tank. It's got one mass of java moss in the middle that almost reaches the top of the tank... it became my centerpiece. I want some lowlight carpet plants too, but that a bit later...

Hmm....Well how big do you think your danio's that you have now? They say about 2g a fish but if their small maybe you can fit more. I think you can.

well if you are going by the inch per gallon guideline then you should be able to fit five more, as they only reach about two inches in length.

this is my opinion. you can have as many as 20 danios, though you would have to do plenty of frequent water changes and have a good filter. i suggest you could should get about a dozen. just do regular water changes and keep an eye on the ammonia. (and when i mean a dozen, i mean adding 7 more, lol, not adding a dozen, ;p)

I'd say a max of eight. They are very fast moving and active fish and will not appreciate being crammed into a tiny space, full of them. They like each others company, but, as I said, are so active they have to have more room to run around, being active fishies

*EDIT*

When I say eight, I mean that's the max amount of danios that you should keep in that tank. You should add three more.

Good morning. 3 is a good number. You don't want to over load your cycle by adding too many fish at the same time. Could cause a mini cycle.

8 is the perfect number... once I got them it brought out a whole new life in them.
