Timed Feeder, any experience with one?

Hello Everyone!

I'm going on a vacation in the near future and I'm interested in a timed feeder. Has anyone had any experience with one? If so, what kind was it? Did it work?

Thanks!!
Robin

not many are reliable and allot end in disaster...the more expensive ones, seem to work better...how long will you be gone? fish can go up to 7-10 days without food IMO ...a nice feed and water change before you go also works great....

Hi Shawnie,

I'm going to be gone about 4-5 days. One of my tanks (2 gal) has baby Danios, can they go that long w/o food? I'll feel really bad not feeding them!!!

4-5 days is fine ....if you can find some kind of moss or moss balls, they will feed off things in that also....give them a nice feeding and water change before you go, and I think they will be ok especially in a 2 gal tank...I think you take a chance of the timed ones over feeding but maybe others have had better luck with them goodluck and have a great vaca!!

Thanks Shawnie! In the 2 gal, I do already have two stones that have long flame moss on them..... I appreciate your opinion!

Hello. I haven't had good luck with automatic feeders. It didn't matter where I put the feeder it would get wet, the food get soggy and the feeder would clog. I only tried one kind. I don't recall which brand name it was.

Thanks aquarist48. I haven't heard good things. I believe my Danio fry need to be fed though - I'd feel really bad leaving them without food!
