| Oh dear, I was hoping it wasn't!! The white that was on the tail fin is no longer there. The tail fin looks okay just that it is split. I'd like to read that article when you find it; thanks!!

| Hi Ali,
I read the article - thanks! The fish I was referring to in the beginning of this thread is fine now; her tail looks good. However, recently (over 2 months later) another of my fish had a red spot on his tail which has since disappeared and now his tail looks a little torn like the previous fish I mentioned earlier. He acts fine though - eats and swims like normal.
The week before I noticed the red spot, I had just moved all my fish (8 fry and 6 adults) into a 20 gal tank. That may have stressed him is what I'm thinking. The fry are actually just a bit smaller than the adults but everyone gets along fine.... I do w/c's once a week but I will check the water nitrates, nitrites, etc., this weekend when I do a w/c.
Thanks again,
Robin |

| Fin rot can be difficult to get rid of sometimes.....the worst thing about it is that you have to treat the main tank if it gets bad. Can't just move to a q-tine. So glad that your fish is OK. I just keep an eye on him...daily partial water changes with Stress Coat is also a good way to get rid of fin rot if its not black. Clean water does wonders. IMO |

| Hi Robin,
Glad I helped! It's good to hear that your fish is better.
The fish with the red dot on it's tail. Could it be a possibility that he got nipped by one of the other fish and his tail got torn, or possibly irratated? I've never heard of red spots, but AlyeskaGirl could be right about the fin rot. Your opinion could also be right about stress, but I have never heard of spots from stress, but who knows! Keep an eye on your fishies and like you said, check the water parmeters and keep us posted!

| Hello everyone,
Sad to say that on Sunday the 9th, the fish (that had the red spot) died. That red spot had gone away some time ago and I thought he acted very normal for him but something wasn't right I guess. Also, he was one of my original fish that I got in Feb 08 so it may have just been his time....
Thanks,
Robin |

| I'm sorry for your loss, Robin. I've lost several zebra danios over the years, and they are one of the hardest to loose, since they have so much personality.

| Loosing Danios is just terrible. I just lost 4 in what I'm gonna call a freak accident cause the 4 left were just fine. |
