Nipping tail fins

Forgive me in advance, I'm a beginner.
But I have a small school of 6 zebra danios in a 10g tank. One of them seems to be a huge bully terrorizing all the others and all five of the others have little to no tail fin left.
For the moment I have removed the one that's being a bully and put him in a 2.5g tank...but I feel bad because I know they're schooling fish.
Is he okay to be with the other five still? should i try him in a new tank with new tank mates? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to fishlore!
it may be because they're in such a small space together.
Do you have a larger tank that you could move them all to?

welcome to fishlore!

removing him was a good idea, if you rearrange things in the tank and then re-introduce him after a couple days that could definitely help with the aggression.

i agree with amanda that the 10 gallon is pretty small for all six of them and is probably the source of most of the aggression .

Moving him like you did and rearranging the tank before putting him back might help.
Is the Betta still in the same tank?

Edit: Ooops, I typed slow. lol
Glad to hear they're going to another tank and being separated from the Betta.
