| Zebra Danios: What? Why? And how? I want to know! I was thinking of getting some zebra danios, but I don't know much, er anything, about them. I have a couple of platies and some neon tetras, and I was hoping they would go well together? Any thoughts? But otherwise I would like to know how big they get, how many I need(at the minimum) and well, whatever else I need to know. |

| Yes, they school. That's why it's best that they're kept in groups. |

| Yes they do. I think the word your looking for is shoaling? But they will get aggressive in to small a group, so 5+ is good, closer to ten is best. |

| they probably wouldn't school much with the tetras that you have, but those tetras will probably school with cardinal or glolight tetras
how many neons do you have and what size tank do you have? |

| Well, right now I'm down to 1 neon and 2 Platies in a ten gal(fish epidemic in the 29 gal) but when I get my 29 back up(need a stand) I want to get zebra danios and more neons |

| Okay. And do you think it would be fine with my two platies for awhile? Just incase I can't sell them.(my friend is moving to tennessee sometime this summer, and if it takes too long to get a tank stand then, I have to keep the platies) |

| they would probably be okay in the ten with just the one neon and two platies, you'd just have to keep a close eye on water parameters.
if you're willing to try building a stand or have someone that can build it for you then you should consider doing that, it ends up being a whole lot cheaper than buying one mine is sitting half built in my garage at home until either spring break or the summer, whenever i get around to it Building A Stand for a 29G |

| Thanks for the link to building a stand! My dad and I both love to build things, (he built me a swingset from a kit once, and another time he built a shed and it has electricity running in it!) I've told him about building a stand before, but I've been too lazy to get a plan off the internet.
As for the zebras in the 10g, would that be just 4-5 then? (because I recently got back into loving fish and being RESPONSIBLE about them again lol) |

| no problem i really need to get around to finishing it, the only problem i'm having is that i actually made the legs taller than i wanted so i need to cut them down to be smaller (luckily i hadn't attached them to the frame yet), and personally i would make the pieces in the middle of the frame to be 10 inches instead of 11 inches (if you know which pieces i'm talking about). i put the tank on one of the frames that i had built and it sits a little too far in for my liking, but i didn't feel like taking everything apart and starting over
i'd go with at least 5 so that you have a full school, you'll be a bit overstocked in your 10 but as long as you keep up with the water changes it should be fine until you get them into the bigger tank |
