I just bought a Zebra Danio today and the only place I belive it could live more happy is in my 2 Gallon tank but the problem is that I have only a Female betta there. Could the Danio live peacefully with the Betta or will the Betta hurt it?

Zebra Danios are a shoaling fish and need to be in a group of 6 or more. And no, I wouldn't put a Danio with a Betta. Wheres the Danio now?

oops! I thought that it wouldnt be that bad to keep it in the trap.

I agree, it's not a good idea. 2g is barely enough room for the Betta.
I would be a good idea if you could consider getting another tank or returning the Danio, he can't live in a breeder net his whole life.

i agree with everyone else, besides your female betta probably attacking and severely injuring if not killing the danio, he won't be happy without more of his own kind

I have had a betta fish living in the same tank with three zebra danios for a few months now problem free. I had a divider in the tank, but the small danios could fit through the grates. I decided to take it out and haven't had any problems, a few nipped fins, but they healed. I am no expert, just speaking form experience.

If you search the forum, you'll find plenty of instances where things work for a little while then you wake up one day and someone is dead or has no fins.
It's really not a recommended situation especially not in a 2g.

So far the danio is doing good with the female betta, there hasn't been any fin nipping or so going on since I've put them together but I plan to buy a 5 Gallon to put the danio with atleast 4 more danios so it can live happy.

A 5 gal. would be too small for a school of danios. They would need at least a 10 gal. They are VERY active when they have others of their own kind.

They're still living happy together with no problems so far but still I'll be getting a separate tank for the zebra and new future zebras.
