Hello,
I have 2 zebra danios sharing a 90 litre tank with 7 neons, a dwarf gourami, red tailed shark and an apple snail. Despite only being a pair, the danios get on very well, swimming together non-aggressively.
A week ago one of them got ill. It swims very erratically, in a jerky and fast manner and lists on one side. It seems to keep its side fins tight in against its body and swim without using them. Its body seems in otherwise good condition though possibly a little pale.
I don’t think the problem is swim bladder because the fish does not ‘flop’ from side to side and doesn’t seem to have any trouble controlling its depth.
I have put the two danios in a separate tank and have been treating them for a week with anit-internal bacteria treatment (interpet no.9). At first there was some improvement but that seems to have leveled off now with the fish still listing on one side and moving around fast and unpredictably.
It still seems to be eating though, and its buddie who is in the tank with it shows no sign of infection. The water in the main tank seems fine,
pH 7.2,
ammonia 0,
NO2 0,
NO3 10.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated; I am new to this game but enjoying it and finding fishlore a brilliant resource. Thanks.
