| Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear that.
Do you mean 1/2 his face is completely gone?
You might want to wait for others, but I'm not sure he'll be able to survive that. |

| Oh, how sad. If it's a really brutal wound, personally I'd euthanise. But if it doesn't look too bad, then I'd do what I could to get him better. I'd definitely recommend covering your intake with maybe a sponge or some old cutoff pantyhose. |

| He might live. If I had a fish like that, I hope I'd be able to euthanize it (though, honestly, I probably wouldn't).
However, I have seen fish in the wild with pretty brutal injuries. (One was missing part of its lower jaw, and had been for years, by the look of it). |

| euthanizing was an option when I first saw him, but now I think he's fine. For the first day after the accident he was laying on the bottom of the tank quivering! Iwas ready to euthanize him but when I looked in the tank the next day he was swimming around and he even ate! Now its been a week and he looks fine.
Also, I had a cover for my intake pipe, but I took It off for a short period of time because it was clogged. After this incident I have replaced it. |

| Click on the "Post Reply" button. Down toward the bottom of the reply screen, there's a "manage attachments" section. You can use those tools to browse for pics on your hard drive (pay attention to the size limits). You can then attach them to your post. |

| I'm sorry that he went through such a traumatic event, but he doesn't look bad. I am glad to hear that he is recovering so well and his wounds aren't fatal. |

| I saw 2 like this in my local store. As you say, they swim around ok.
It looks as though his gill has been torn off, I don't know how well he will do with only 1 but you never know,
We can survive with only one lung... Last edited by Steve113; November 8th, 2008 at 11:54 PM.
