tell if my zebra danio eggs are fertilized

my zebra danios have laid eggs and I have never bred them before how can I tell if they are viable eggs?

Very easily. If they are clear they are healthy (youd have to look closer to see if they were fertilized, just assume they are). If they're opaque white, they're dead (or unfertilized eggs decomposing).

You should be able to tell which eggs are viable within 6hrs of fertilization.

we have babies. most of the eggs hatched and the young are now free swimming. can't tell how many as they are so tiny and hard to see. we check the filter daily and put the wee ones back in the tank. thanks for the info.

Enjoy your new fry! Are they in the same tank as the adults? It'd probably be best to seperate them.

I have a glofish. It has a round belly and has been that way for about 5 days. If I put her in a floating breeder will she lay eggs there. Are they already fertilized or does he do that after they have been laid. I have only ever had live bearers so I do not know. Thanks.

Hi missyinok
Welcome to Fishlore
Danio eggs will need to be fertalized by a male . You could use a breeder net but if the holes are too big the eggs will fall through and all your other fish will eat them . If you dont get the parents out soon after spawning they will eat thier own eggs .
Hope this answers your questions .
PS-Its better to start a new thread than to jump on the end of an old one , you will get more responses - good luck , I think danios are great little fish .
