Hi wintersnow
Here is a pic that might help.
The danio top center is a male , the rest are female.
Hope this helps.

Hi wintersnow
Yes , they are carrying eggs . Once mature , they will start to look like this until they spawn. If you can , try looking at them from above and you will see how fat they really are.
As far as when they will spawn , i'm not sure. Mine are kept in an unregulated tank ( no heater ) and have not done so since the temp has dropped (winter is coming ) but during summer , it was about every 6-8 weeks at a temp of 20-22'c , about 70'f I think .
Hope this helps
Good luck

So I should I put them in a tank by themselves so my other fish dont eat the eggs when the time does come?

Hi wintersnow
Yes you will need to separate the fish from the fry. If you have another tank , put a male and female in there and once spawned , remove them as quick as you can . The female will be really skinny now .
The parents and other fish will eat the eggs . You can use a layer of marbles or large gravel which lets the eggs fall to bottom and stops the parents getting at them. After a few days you should see little wigglers on the tank glass and few days later they will start free swimming.
