Zebra Danios

Hello I have a question that maybe someone could answer. I am new to tropical fish keeping, and bought my first 20 Gallon aquarium 6 weeks ago. I made sure that I researched thouroughly abut setting up the tank, and in particular the nitrogen cycle so I wouldnt cause any fatalities to the new fish. After setting up my tank I left it for twoweeks then added two zebra danios, so not to overload the filter, and after having the water tested a further two fish neons were added.
Huge mistake it seems the tetras died and to my horror it seems that it was due to only having two danios, so I decided to keep a single species tank with only zebras in. My question is I have now got ten in the aquarium and just wondered is that full capacity, and also will they breed. Thankyou for reading bye.

Welcome to Fishlore.

10 Danios does fully stock the 20g tank. I'm not sure on breeding them, since I've never had any but other Danio owners will have more answers for you there.

Hi Ghostdog, Welcome to FishLore.

I'm sorry for the loss of your fish.

Are you sure it was the danios? Neons can be pretty sensitive to water conditions and have to be accumulated very slowly into a tank.
What were the water readings?

Good luck with your tank

Hi ghostdog
Your danios will almost certainly breed unless you somehow ended up with only 1 gender in the tank.
Females develop a fat belly (eggs) while the males stay slender.
If you dont want to keep the fry , dont worry , the danios will eat them as they are not very good parents.
