one of my zebra danio glofish has developed a bent spine over the past few weeks. his back is like an upsidedown v. he seems to be swimming and eating and playing like normal - but he looks very odd now. his back bends downward in the middle - so his tail is much lower than his front end.

does anyone know what might be wrong? should i treat it at all? or be worried about the other fish catching something from him?

he seems happy enough... but he sure looks strange.

if you google Tropical Fish TB you will get tons of info. and pics. that will help you decide if this is what your fish has.

okay. after some research, i'm a little freaked out. he doesnt seem to have any of the other symptoms of tb. he swims around happily enough, he eats with the others and doesnt appear to have any abnormalities with his scales.... but - his spine is very very bent, and i change the water every other day without gloves. if he does have tb, then i'm sure i will develop it too. i will try to get a picture of him to show you. do zebra danios get scoliosis? is there anything else that would cause the bent spine?

calm down, don't freakout! unless you have some pretty bad open sores on your hands and you don't wash after being in the tank, your ok. See if you can get some rubber gloves to use as a precautionary messure. The chances of you getting anything is slim, you would probably have to keep your hands in there daily for hours, so its ok. Hey,,,just read a thing on scoliosis at the same site for TB. There are other things that cause a bent spine, like neon tetra disease. Hang in there.

well... i'm thinking he may just have a bad case of scoliosis or something. because he's still swimming around, eating and playing with the others. he does not have any other symptoms of tb. (knocking on wood)

I have the same problem with the same colour fish. It also is very active and eats well. I wonder if others with the other colours are having the same problem? I have orange and green in my tank.

I have the same problem with the same colour Glofish. It acts like all the rest. I hope it's not TB. Guess I will isolate him.
