Stocking Question

Hey,

So I've got a tank set up, has been since December, and my levels are all stable, its been cycled. I've got 5 Danios in there who have been in there since probably late january. Throughout the past few months I have been trying different tank mates with them and nothing really seems to be working all that well. The only tank mate who they have left alone is my angelfish who I got a couple of weeks ago. They've tormented and nipped at every other fish i've put in there, resulting in the deaths of guppies, cardinal tetras, a dennison barb, and a few others.

So my question is, what are some suitible tank mates to go with my 5 danios and my angelfish? I plan on getting a second angel, but what else would the danios play nice with?

Well, although I haven't experienced it, Danio's can be fin nippers, so maybe increasing your group size (maybe another 2 or so? group size would then be 7) would cut down on the aggression. Also, what size is your tank?

Danios definitely are known for their nipping and 6 or more is recommended, but you can still get some that just are going to nip anything they think they can.

The size of the tank would be important, since larger fish like Angels may be the best bet for this bunch and you'll want at least a 30g.

I have two jumbo danios and they do fine with my albino red tail shark. I have not seen them nippig at my tiger barb but I only have one and plan on getting some more barbs. since I have two they did gang up on my angel fish and ended up killing it. I also have a blue dwarf guarami and he seems to know to aviod them but with them being jumbos they are similar in size to the guarami. I did have some danios with an oscar before but I went on a trip and returned to just an oscar in the tank. he ate his friends and never did let anything else in the tank. I hope this helps. good luck on tank mates.
