Zebra long fins nipping!

Hi All

I have recently set up a 55g tank and i am total newby to keeping tropical fish.
Recently (about 1 week) after adding 9 zebra long fin danios to the tank i have noticed there seems to be a lot of 'bullying' going on in the tank towards one or two of the females i have (or at least i think they are female by the descriptions on various websites).
This has only just started and i have not noticed this before.....is this normal?
Could this just be playful romance

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Tony

I would say it probably is playfully rough romance. If you ever watched Star-trek, fish can be like Klingons when it comes to romance. If it gets to the point that there is severe issues, such as visible wounds, severe fin ripping, the "victims" begin acting sluggish, or different I would possibly take out the offending fish move all the decorations around in the tank and wait a day or two before putting them back in. Sometimes the rearrangement helps, sometimes the "time-out" has worked from what I've read.

Good luck.

Yep its true with my fancy goldfishes. I removed the guy because he was agressive but love the girl fish. About a day later, I put him back and he hasn't chase her, yet.

I had that problem with my Leopard Danios, I had 3 and 2 chase each other excessively. I added 3 more hopefully they behave now

Are you using these LFD to cycle your tank? I had the same problem too. It is reccomended that you get more females than males. I wouldn't see a problem with the number of fish in the tank. If there are any wounds or bleeding you should seperate them.
Hope I helped, Ali.
