Add as many line-of-sight breaking objects as you can. Dense plants, ornaments,
driftwood, and rock all work well. But no, dropping the aggression probably won't happen, you can
buffer it and play defense now. The fish get antsy and uncomfortable when not in schools which leads to aggression and fin nipping. It can lead to one being bullied into jumping out of the tank. If I were you I'd keep something smaller that doesn't need to be in a school or get a bigger tank. Bettas work well for 2-5g tanks if that is how small it is. If it is smaller than 2g you can keep small cherry shrimp or cardinia shrimp in it is about all.
