Since switching tanks and redecorating I've noticed my zebra danios look like they're having trouble with my filter flow. Its still a 10g with just the three zebras and a few ghost shrimp, the hood just fits this one better and I've had enough with the shrimp jail breaks (kitty got my biggest one night before the switch). The flow is the same but before I had a large resin stump/cave right under it (the zebras didn't go in it). Someone told me that they come from fast moving water so its not a problem but I just want to make sure.

They swim to the other side of the tank no problem but I can't figure out if they like the flow and thats why they keep going back or if they want to be over there and just can't make it (the shrimp seem to like hanging out in the low cave I have under the flow now).

I have danios and they like the fliter output, sometimes they play in it.
You may wnat to get more danios as that like being in groups of 6 or more.

Thanks - afraid I don't really have anyway to control the filter flow so I was getting a little worried.

I plan on getting more - I was actually going to get more the other day but everytime I asked the guy for help he said he was helping someone else (who gave in just a few minutes ago!) I was to the point I wanted to see nothing more than that guy fired right there so it just wasn't worth it. Hopefully my friend will beable to handle the fish soon ans when she does I'll be making sure she's there when I pick them up.

I was able to pick up three more today. Soon as they went into the tank the older three hide behind the plants (they're new favorite place I think - every time I go to feed them they come flying out from back there), the shrimp were the only ones that went to check out the bag. The smallest one got stuck in the bag for a second so it went right into the cave but right now all six of them are swimming around together under the filter. Can't wait for the new ones to grow a little more and see how they get along together.

Cool! congrats on the new danios.
Yeah alot of fish hide when somebody new is put in the tank or if you move stuff around, it can take a few days for eveyone to calm down and get settled.

I was a little worried about one of my new ones, he's just so tiny - granted all three of them are a little small compared to the older ones but my shrimp are at least three times his size (but then again, my biggest ghost shrimp is already close to two inches). So far I haven't noticed any problems other than them attacking the feeding ring I made today. I could hardy keep it at the surface long enough to put in the food before they would drag it to the bottom - they even started to attack the net when I put in it! Really wish I had gotten these little guys sooner but at least they're all set now.
