Hey everyone

Hey everybody.... I live in Utah.
I have a 40 gallon tank with African cichids, an 80 gallon tank with African Cichlids, a 55 gallon tank with FW tropicals, and 2 betta tanks...

I had a 90 gallon reef tank that I had to sell because my roommate said it was too much work...

I would like to get a Biocube 29 HQI...

Does anyone have any experience with the Biocube?
If so anything would help...

Hi there and welcome to Fishlore! We love pics around here so please post some if you have.

As for the biocube, I'm sure someone with experience will come along and provide some insight.

I have a 14 g biocube that I use for freshwater at the moment. So if you're wanting to know about it as a saltwater tank, I can't be of any help. The lighting is great for growing plants. It has a wet-dry filter and bio-balls to hold the bacteria. You must keep it level or it will overflow. My only complaint is that the fan on the light is noisy sometimes. I need to contact the company to see if there is a fix.

I have a bio cube that is a SW setup that right now we are using as a quarentine tank after loosing our lionfish last year.... once the biocubes are up and running they are great tanks with a great filtration system, but the fans are noisy sometimes but i replaced mine with fans from radio shack. this is not a really easy task but not all that hard either. My water quality stays great but you have to watch overfeeding.

Hope this helps

Thanks everyone... I have a list of Items that I have been looking at and I will post them as soon as I get a chance... I was wondering... Would SPS really need 1600gph flow to survive? Or can I cut that back in the 29?

I almost bought a biocube so i did a lot of reading on them. The cooling fans are absolute garbage and the company knows it. If you contact the customer support, they will send you replacements for free but they are the same garbage (supposedly they are trying to get a new supplier). You can replace the fans with a computer cooling fan to fix the problem permanently. Otherwise, I've heard tons of good reviews on them. Most people tend to replace the return pump for a higher flow and it's said the skimmer for them is absolute junk. If you would like a link to a very lengthy owner thread (50something pages) that I've read where it details every mod to the tank and how to do it, PM me and I can send it to you.

I was wondering... If I get 2 powerheads and point them toward the back... Could that help with the turbulence in the front so maybe i can keep some softies and a fish or 3?
