I just realized this board was here... so after posting a few times, I guess I'm doing this a little backwards....
I'm Jessica. I had fish tanks growing up, starting with a 10 gallon tank. My parents wanted more fish, so they expanded to a 55 gal, and then to a 110 gal. After ending up with only our Marble Angel fish, Fred, (he was quite aggressive) who was the size of a salad plate, and his eventual demise (after about 4 years), that was the end of the fish tanks.
This November I decided to get into the hobby again. After doing (what I now realize was) minimal research, I got a 10 gallon tank, plunked in 2 guppies, 4 neon tetras, 2 bleeding heart tetras, 1 balloon molly, and a mystery snail. They started acting odd, and dying off one by one, until they were all gone. It was then that I found out about the
nitrogen cycle, and tank stocking information. So, I rinsed out the tank, filled it with water and let it sit for a few weeks while I did my homework.
Oh, this is getting long - my apologies...

Fast forward to now... I am currently cycling my 10 gal tank with a fishless cycle - adding food every 12 hours to supply
ammonia. The only other thing going in is the Prime I put in when I add water to replace what has evaporated. (No Cycle, or TSS) It is little difficult, because I am impatient, but in the long run, I know it will mean a happy environment for my fish!
I had thoughts of stocking with a school of neons (about 6), but that changed when hubby brought home a sad little
betta from the pet store. Now, the 10 gallon is going to be home to little "Boba Fish" when it's done cycling. In the mean time, I am again trying to keep a fish alive, with daily water changes, and doses of Prime. (And adding occasional garlic - he loves it!)
I've read a bunch of threads on the forum, and I'm so impressed with the patience, knowledge and hospitality expressed by the members!
And in advance, thank you so much for all your help!
