It would probably help those in the know if you could advise which species you are referring to.

Is my tiger barb sick or whats wrong??? it could also be some issues with the tank as mentioned in yoru other thread.....the tank needs to be larger and cycled...did you get a current reading on your ammonia/nitrites/nitrates?

I'm pretty sure that's a platy. We would be able to tell you more though if you could list your water parameters, amonnia, nitrites, and nitrates. Do you know about the nitrogen cycle ?

MOST live bearer females will be pregnant if ever near a male....shes definately looking close to spawning but shes got a week or so more id say...shes not totally squared off yet....which is what her rounded belly will do before spawning.....id test the water asap because fry are even more sensitive to ammonia/nitrites and they could not survive for long if you have it

She does look like she might be squaring off and if she has the gravid spot like you said it is likely that she is pregnant. If your tank is not in good shape it is likely that she will abort the pregnancy or the babies will die from ammonia/nitrite poisoning though, so if you would like to keep them I would test your tank for ammonia/nitrites/ntrates.

well it should be fine, i have a new carbon media and a newer ammonia media, i use chemicals every water change. water is very clean and clear. i do regular 1/3 water changes, add aquarium salt.

i just want to know how long she will take to give birth, she has been hiding more, but does come out every once and a while.

new stuff added to the tank, wont have beneficial bacteria on it to cycle a tank...so that wont be fine....what chemicals do you use?
heres a tip to help your fish deal with the tank cycling and keep them safe
http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/aq...ling-fish.html

one of those and daily water changes, are the ONLY chemicals needed.....

she is getting there and id say at least a week or more....but again, the babies wont make it without having a cycled tank so hopefully you can find either amquel+, prime, or ammo lock soon!
