Hello from Western New York!

Hi Folks, I'm completely new to fish keeping. I've always been interested, but I just bought my first starter kit from a local aquarium/pet store. 29g. with 'Tetra' whisper filter and submersible heater.

I really had/have no idea what I'm getting into.....

I'm a member of a similar forum for carpenters, so I appreciate the knowledge, and experienced advice one can find on such forums. Throughout my research and googled questions about my new hobby Fishlore repeatedly answered my questions!

I'm looking forward to learning, and perhaps helping a few in the future!

Welcome to Fishlore and welcome to fish keeping!! A 29 gallon is a great way to start. It gives you allot more freedom when it comes to stocking than the 10 gallons people usually start with. I'm sure you'll have plenty of questions since you're just starting out and with the large and varied group we have here I'm sure someone will have the answers for you! Check out our beginners page, it's full of info on everything you need to get your tank started the right way and to keep it successful. What kind of fish are you interested in keeping?

Hello and welcome to Fishlore. This forum is certainly a great learning resource. To start with you should learn as much as you can about the nitrogen cycle. This will be the most important thing to know before you add fish.
