Newby here :)

Hello, my name is Jamie, currently in KS. Im new to this whole fish thing, it started out for my husband but i tend to it and love it more now than he does . We have 2 tanks, a 55 and a 30 gal. after reading some info, looks like i have to get alot more plants

I see by reading your aquarium information that you are not aware of the nitrogen cycle:
The Aquarium Nitrogen Cycle
The above link will help you.

Also what is most recommended on this site is to have an API (liquid) Master test kit. It will test for everything mentioned in the nitrogen cycle.

Wow Jamie, I live in GVP, just across the river from you. If you ever need any help with anything, let me know. And welcome to the area, it takes some getting used to, isn't my first choice on places to live, lol

What LFS are you using? I can give you an excellent recommendation to the ONLY shop in the area that I'm willing to use along with reasons to avoid the others.

lol, well im bout to start researching how to set up a 55 gal brackish tank if anybody has any tips for doing so

okay so is API tap water conditioner good to use in a brackish tank? im off to the store tomorrow to get a hydrometer, as one article said was good to have...im tryin to make sure i get this all right, and im so lost in confusion with it all already, lol but hubby is helping...cleaned my sand, well, played in the sand while cleaning it, haha
