New Face

Hey all,
New to the forum. Been reading up on starting up a salt water aquarium. I have a lot more to think about than I originally thought. It might be a while before I start it because of the expenses but it is definitely something I am very passionate about.

Right now I have a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium with 2 sharks (not sure what kind). My father-in-law killed off the fish that were in there when he was taking care of it for me and bought those to replace our other fish. They are dark grey/black with red tails. Anyway I like the freshwater just fine but I would like a better challenge and I have always love the fish of the ocean.

Hope to get some great ideas and fellow enthusiasts out of this forum.

Thanks all!

Or rainbow sharks (more likely red tailed, kudos to Goldwing). Welcome to Fishlore!

Yeah. I guess if I would have spent a few seconds looking then I would have figured it out.

Thanks for the welcome.

One of them is much larger and more silver/grey then the other. Not sure if that is a gender thing or what but they also have very different personalities. The smaller darker one is more active and the lighter larger one hides all the time.

BTW I live in Southern California. Anyone in the general area?

Welcome Raamiah. If just the tails are red I would say they were red tail sharks but if all the fins are red they are rainbow sharks like my albino in the picture below. Hope you enjoy Fishlore and if possible post some pics. We all would love to see your sharks.

I will have to double check on the fish. We just moved into our house and just got the fish a little bit ago from her parents. Been cleaning the tank as I have time. When I think about it I'll post up some pics on here to let you see my two sharks that I have.

Don't clean the tank to much. You'll need the Bacteria...

Thanks. I was referring mostly to the parts of the fish tank. The filter and hood of the tank were covered in hard water and I still cannot get all of it off. The outside of the tank has dry water stains as well.

For the inside of the tank I did a 3/4 water change about a month ago. The water is so much nicer and the fish seem to be moving around a lot more now.

hi and welcome to FISHLORE. Looking at your pics, the small 1 is a red tail and the bigger 1 is a rainbow shark. Nice looking specimens.
