I did not know that small turtles would eat fish like that. That is very interesting.
I would advise some kind of deterrant for the turtles or separation before he eats all the fish again. Perhaps a deterrant for the fish, so they stay away from the turtle would also be prudent?
An underwater net would be perfect, I think.
The fish in our old small tank, we trained them so that they would swim toward one side of the tank when we placed a bright blue card against the side.
Much like training a cat or a dog, but only with food and visual stimulus. Not auditory, unless you want to get a hydrophone and rap lyrical with aquatic lifeforms. But that is a little extreme, even for hippies.
Maybe it would be possible to somehow do the same thing with the turtles, so that they tend towards eating away from the fish. Maybe a dummy fish with a bad taste could also be used..? That works with little children biting their nails.
On the bright side, this has all given me a great idea for a practical joke to play on Claire.
I will post you the footage, so that you can laugh at another's expense and at their foolery and this whole dreadful affair of the turtle eating the fish will be forgotten.
I am sorry for your loss.
