Hi everyone!

I've been registered for a couple of weeks now and have been lurking around. So I'm just now getting around to doing this. I have a 10 gallon freshwater community tank with platys and black skirt tetras and an apple snail. I had a red veil tail male betta that was in the tank(his name was RedRum, hence the username), he developed velvet. I moved him to a smaller tank to treat him but he unfortunately died this past Sunday. =( My other fish are fine though.

As for me, I'm 19, in college, and I intern as a zoo keeper at Zoo Atlanta. Oh yeah, I'm a biology major(so far) but I'm going to transfer to a larger university that offers an animal science degree.

Thanks guys! I'll try to get some pics but the tetras and platys are such busy bodies. They never stay still! lol

BTW, does anyone know of a LFS in Atlanta or near besides Petsmart, Petco, and PetSupermarket? The only one I know of is a small saltwater aquarium store.

Check out Atlantis Aquarium in Marietta. The owner is a cool guy and really seems to know his stuff. It's not the nicest looking shop you'll run across, but he has a great selection for FW.

I also like the Aviarium in Duluth GA. They have a great selection and healthy fish.

Marine Fish is a nice store too, but a little pricey. Still, the FW selection is decent and the livestock healthy for the most part.

Keen Reef is really close to me but it's kind of useless because I don't have a marine tank. I'm really fed up with Petsmart, every person in the aquatics department told me that I could never keep a betta in a community tank but I kept mine for about 3 months in one till he died. I still get supplies there though and I'm going to get a halfmoon tomorrow from Petco on my way home from the zoo.

I will definitely check out those smaller stores though!
