Hi everyone,
does anyone know what a tiger barb egg looks like?
I think a pair o my tigers spawned.
let me describe my setup.
I have two 2 foot tanks connected by a pipe. I have a pair of dwarf gouramis
and ten tiger barbs.
I used to just have tigers, and they would swim up and over into the other tank, usually at night, so you'd rarely see them do it. But this would sometimes leave just a couple of barbs on one side all day and they'd fin-nip badly, so I put all the barbs on one side, and fenced off the pipe with pantyhose. Someone needed to rehouse a male dwarf gourami, so I put him in my empty tank along with a new female. Both tanks are still connected water-wise, but divided fish-wise. I pump water from one tank into the other, and the water flows back through the pipe.
Currently two of the underdog tigers are in with the gouramis so their fins can re-grow. They got pretty nipped, and just when they start to look like they're growing back, they would get re-nipped. They'd just sulk and looked quite sad, but they're much more active and happy-looking in with the gouramis.
They're both planted tanks, but there are a couple of fake ones in the tiger tank left over from my pre-plant days.
So, two of my barbs were fooling around, and I'm pretty sure they spawned on the fake plant in the back corner, because they were all starting to eat stuff off it, I assume eggs.
So I took the fake plant out and put it in an icecream container filled with tank water. I can see a tiny little orange bubble on the fake plant. IS IT AN EGG??
Ive seen my tigers definitely spawning before, back when I only had 6 barbs. Upon adding to the numbers, the dynamics changed, and I havn't seen them spawn since, until now.
I have a little 1 foot tank and a 25 watt heater doing nothing; do you think i should keep the plastic plant in there and see if anything hatches??
If anyone could describe what a tiger barb egg looks like it would be greatly appreciated.
