Hello Sarah. I'm sorry your fish is so sad. You're right that she's suffering from ammonia poisoning and doing water changes will help a lot.

From what I understand, goldfish, even small ones, produce so much waste that they need to be in a 20 gallon tank. In a regular bowl, you goldfish would need partial water changes with Prime every day to avoid poisoning and more burning.

Is there any way to put your fish in a bigger tank?

I'm sorry, again.

Here is some information for your fish: http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-Goldfish.htm

my sister have a larger tank at her place and i m planning to give her my goldfish once she is cured as my sister wont accept a sick fish coz her sickness might get transferred to others ... until then i think i must transfer my fishy to a large plastic bucket if it is okay

That's great that she will have a larger tank!

The larger the container, the better, but only if the container is clean - if it has ever had chemicals or soap in it, then it could be more dangerous than the bowl.

Best wishes to your little goldie!

Hello Sarah and Welcome to Fish Lore. Ilovee has given you some good information. I would like to add that your goldfish really needs a larger space and with filtration. Moving your goldie to your sisters tank may be a good idea if she has other goldfish to keep it with. It's not suggested that you mix goldfish with tropical fish as goldies are cold water fish and tropical fish require warm water.

Keep doing your daily water changes and add some Prime, if you can find it in your area, to detox the ammonia for 24 hours until it's time for the next water change. The Prime will also help the fishes natural slime coating which helps to fight off disease and infections.

Best wishes for a full recovery!

You mentioned that you're goldfish was turning black?
When goldies are hurt they're scales turn black (like a bruise) so that could be what you're seeing. But a larger tank with a filter will definetly help.
