just starting out

hey all,

thought i would trow out a shoutout to all you vets who take the time to post some really helpful and easy to undrstand explanations to this new and exciting world of fish that i have been waiting a long while to be apart of. I am just gtting a 50 galon tank up and running and have decided to take it slow and read up on this as the last time didn't work out that well, for me or the fish (may they rest in peace).
But i am a bit hesitent on the exact way and hows to getting this up and running but i am catching on...as well as i dont really have any idea as to what kind of biotope or community i want to have... and as i notice many of you have had that problem and remedied it by running many tanks with different fish
But either way if you have any more hints comments suggestions as to this lil cunundrum or can relate your begginings and the stroy of how you started let me hear it
Peace & Blessings

Re: just starting out

Welcome to Fish Lore And congrats on your new 50 gallon tank! As for a biotope, everyone likes something different. Maybe tell us what you personally like (i.e. planted vs. rocky setting, etc) as well as what fish you're thinking of getting, and then we'll try to decide what biotope suits your fish best, or what fish will suit the biotope you want.

Re: just starting out

Welcome to FishLore! It's great to have you with us! My suggestion would be to do plenty of research, and pick a set up you plan on looking at for a long time. Some fish live 10 years, so make sure you know all about the fish you choose for your tank. A 50 gallon is a great size with a lot of options! We will be more than happy to help you along your journey!
