| Thanks for the welcomes I just can't help myself with the MTS. I just talked myself out of another 55 gallon. It was on sale at petsmart LOL It made me think about other hobbyist whos homes get raided by police thinking their growing marijuana because of their power bills LOL
I am going to set up a 20 long for a krib breeding tank and then I'll try to cool it for a while. |

They sure are! I got my first ten gallon a few years back and the hobby took me over. LOL You can't just use some media from your other tanks to cycle. I love never having to cycle. I always throw some extra sponges in my biggest filter for a week or two before I set up a new tank. I have all DIY media though. I never use the media the filters come with.
That's great that you'll be giving some convicts a good home. |

That's great that you'll be giving some convicts a good home. | Yeah..I could..But the 125 is going to need allot of bacteria built up so I just started from scratch on that one, figured I'd save the seeded media for something smaller..But I do seed all my other tanks with filter media from other tanks..I've gotten so many new ones in a short amount of time I used up all my filter media..lol..I got my first tank in Oct of 08..So in 3 months I've gotten all the others.lol..It happened really fast. But once this 125 is cycled and stocked I'll have all kinds of media to start up new tanks..It has a canister filter so I'm sure I'll be shoving all kinds of extra stuff in there. I like the DIY media too.. It's going to be a Malawi mbuna tank. |

Been there done that. I have also found a good bottled bacteria. Tetra safe start is awesome and I have cycled in less than a week with it. I have no patience. LOL Wow, that is really fast Fish will take over your life. LMAO Their so much fun though!!! Yeah once you get that big tank up you'll never have to cycle again. And fishless is a good way to go with that tank as I assume you want to add most of them at the same time. |

| Tetra Safe start is actually one of the few bottled bacteria that members agree works...I've seen a couple of success stories around here...I can't find it in my area..I'd have to order it online..But I'm a cheapo...so that won't work..lol...Bio-spira works too..but I guess they discontined the freshwater version of it and only sale it for salt water..I've been researching and at first I was going to put them all in but now I'm going to be putting a group in at a time...Seems to be what everyone is suggesting. |

Well good luck with your tank. I hope to see pics of it when you get them in there. I'm sure it will be great.
Don't worry, I'm a cheapo too. I can't afford not to be with all the tanks I have |

Start a new thread and you'll probably get a lot more responses. I'm sure there are some people who dont even read introductions. LOL A thirty gallon wouldn't be empty here for a day |

It is rude to do so.
For unrelated questions Please start a new thread.

| Oh when I said start a new thread I wasn't upset about the question being there. I just meant that you would get a lot more help if there was a thread about it. I know a lot of people dont even check newb introductions Therefore not as many people would be there to help you figure it out |
