I have taken tests each of the two days and the readings that I have gotten both times are:
Amm---0
nitrite--0
nitrate--10
Do you think I should wait and do more test and then do a water change before I add any fish. I plan on adding 2-4 fish the first time and then add every 2-3 weeks. I have been waiting for this day since 1/09/2009. Is it ok to add fish

I am going to start off with 4 zebra dano, I want to have a total of 6, but I think that is too many to put in at one time. The rest are:1-Dwarf Gourami,Fancy Guppys,2 Platys,8 Neor tetra, and 4 Otocinclus. It may be over the 1" per gal rule, but they are all small and I will be doing water changes once a week. What do you think

with good maintenance, of course its possible...you have the right frame of mind going slow with adding fish and allowing the bacteria to adjust..make sure you get us pics!!! and more than overstocked, just keep an eye on mr gourami because when they feel cramped, they get the mean streak in them goodluck!!!!!

Just a thought but if you wanted to you can get smaller schools of differ tetras (example: neons, glo-lights and black neon tetra) and they will still school together if you wanted a varitey.

For a 40 gallon tank I think you got it perfect, just take your time in between the new addition and you should be fine. Any live plant at all??

I have approx 10 live plants plus 2 bunches of wisteria plants and I have a bunch of hornwort coming that I will be floating on top of the water.
