Hi,
I am new at the world of fish and I am open to any suggestions on how to keep a happy and healthy tank. I so far have 3 damsels, 4 tiger barbs and a couple of fancy gold fish. I will be adding more at a later date.

Thank you,
Tropicalworld

welcome to fishlore!!!

goldies are cold water fish and the barbs and damsels are tropical...are you going with a tropical tank or a cold water specie tank? mixing the two wont work well as goldies life span are much longer with cooler temps

heres a great link on the nitrogen cycle thats most important for any tank new or old http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm

Hi welcome to Fish Lore

I'm sorry, a bit confused. You have 1 75g tank?

If that's the case your fish are incompatable. Your damsel is a salt water fish, your barbs are tropical fish and your cold fish are cold water fish.

It would be a really good idea to return your fish. I really hate to advise this, but your fish cannot live together. Especially your Damsel.

May I suggest some reading (Be sure to read the links included on this page):

Hi Shawnie,
The problem with this is that I started out with a 10 gal with the gold fish and a Crawfish and soon found out that the crawfish liked the goldies. We found an awesome deal with the 75 which will be a fresh water so we have to keep the crawfish in the 10 gal.. I spoke to different people about leaving the gold fish in the fresh water and we seem to get different answers. I just didn't want the crawfish to have more than he really needs.

Hi,
We bought the damsels from a pet store and he told us that the fish that we had were fine. This could be the wrong name of the fish all I can tell you is that it is a medium size silver in color with a light yellowish stripe down the side.

Thanks

Thanks for the link Shawnie. I didn't realize some species were FW also. I'm also reading that "many also live in temperate climates"
I love this hobby. There's always something new to learn.

I agree with Amanda, maybe you could post some pics?

You may have to resize it to make it smaller.

Hello again,
I think I was able to do this. If you were to click onto the camera of mine you will see the fish that I'm talking about. It is the one up in the upper right hand corner. Thanks for all your help. I will be needing it.

It looks like some sort of giant danio, or something along those lines.
I could be wrong, it's just a guess.
