Welcome to Fishlore!
Walmart has a 14day return policy. If it is in the 14days I would advise returning him. If they won't take him back try another pet store that handles fish.

Hi, and welcome to fishlore.

You could try everything Butterfly/Carol posted.

Please, just do not release it into the wild.

Post him up for adoption on a for sale site or an aquarium club site. I am sure some one will want him...just makes sure they have a big enough tank for him.

Welcome to fishlore!

Sometimes your local, private owned fish and pet stores will take the fish off your hands. If you have any in the area that aren't chains you can ask them if they would be willing to take him.
