Greetings from San Francisco!

Ok, ok. So I don't live IN S.F. but that's ok! I actually live in a coastal town 20 minutes south of S.F. I live about a 15 minute walk away from the beach, and of course it's great! (Don't worry I live on a hill, if there is a tidal wave I'll survive)

I am 16 years old and I become a fanatic about anything I set my mind to... So now I am hooked on fish! Well.. i guess hooked is a cruel way to put it..

Anyways I used to have 3 goldfish when I was much younger but my dad did not know how to clean the tank and they all ended up dying. So since we are now going to build a new room in my house I am planning on putting a new (or used?) fish tank either on my desk or beside it. As for now I am planning my venture so that things will be easier later on. I do plan on posting my ideas on my setup on these forums for review later on.

I hope to meet you all soon! Bye!

Matt

Hey Matt. Welcome and I hope you have a great time. As yo can see I live in South Africa, and NO I do not live in a cave and I do not have a lion as a pet, although that would be cool. Hahahaha!

Hello Matt and welcome to fishlore.
You will find a lot of helpful advice here. What size tank are you thinking of getting? What are your favorite fish? We can help you with stocking ideas when you figure out what size tank you would like to have. I also live at the beach.. on the other side of the country!

Yip, no fun at all, although it would cost me a fortune to feed it, we do have hundreds of baboons running around.

Has anyone seen the movie "Grandma's Boy"? It has a hilarious line that deals with a lion haha

Well I bought a 5.5g tank tonight! I'm very excited!
I got the heater, filter, air pump, thermometer, gravel, live plants, water purifier... is that all? i think..

Although I am having some problems with the heater, I've mentioned that in my other thread (link earlier in this topic).

anyways I guess I'm starting the cycling, and for now I need to decide what I can put in there... I can't wait to get some fish though:]

That sounds great. What about some guppys, swords and mollies, but don't forget that these are all live bearers and they breed very fast. Every 30-40 days or so.

Sounds good. Although, I can't fit much into a 5.5g tank.. I was also looking at some Cherry Shrimp (not sure if you know much about them) and a lot of people say that they are a very light load so I was thinking about adding maybe two of those in the tank with whatever fish I decide on. thoughts?
