I have 2 Betas. The first one I bought I named Gabriel. He was small, young and active when purchased. The 2nd I named Mac Beth because he was quiet, did a lot of hiding was bigger and had been kept in a small cup before sale. It took Mac Beth almost a year to come out of his shell. Now he is happy and active, too. They are housed in 2 gallon tanks and at times can see each other. They are atleast 3 years old. I keep the gravel in their bowls but change water which is treated about once a week. I feed only when they tell me they are hungry. Sometimes only every other day. They are above my computer and know how to signal me for food. I have dogs too and it amazes me the abilities members of the animal kingdom have.
